A CASE OF ANOREXIA NERVOSA

Abstract
Anorexia Nervosa is a spectrum of disorders which is characterized by a relentless drive for thinness and the manifestation of starvation.
Pathogenetically, there is a multidimensional model involving risk factors within the individual, the family, and the culture.
The authors experienced a 25 year-old anorexia female patient who has been through on-going maladaptive family process, especially¢¥ symbiotic relationship with her mother, with poor formation of ego -autonomy and identity.
Several literatures were reviewed and familial aspects of anorexia nervosa were discussed. For the treatment of this dis order, multidirectional approach including behavior therapy, individual psychotherapy, family therapy using a "systems approach", pharmacotherapy and conserva-tive medical management are recommended.
